TRUE WORSHIP

Scripture:     John 4:4-26

Devotion:
Modern worship has been relegated to an experience you have on Sunday morning.  It is so much more than that.  Worship is a lifestyle that comes from a changed heart, that is manifested through a changed life.  Worship is not about style, music, lights, or production.  Worship is about the subject, who you worship.  We were created to worship.  Ever since the beginning of time, mankind has been worship something.  If it wasn’t God, it was someone or something else.  The Old Testament is chock full of examples of people, especially the Israelites, worshiping someone other than God.  It wasn’t a problem of how they were worshiping, but who they were worshipping, and the condition of their hearts.  You will worship the one who has your heart.  If God has your heart, all of it and not just a portion, you will worship God with your whole life.  Why?  Because He has your whole heart.  People can’t help but worship.  Watch T.V. for an hour and you will see tons of people’s objects of worship from celebrities to cars to cats.  The Bible tells us in Matthew 6:21 that where your treasure is there your heart will be.  Simply put, you worship what you treasure.  Treasure God and you can’t help but worship Him.  Treasure the things of this world and you will worship those things.  Who or what do you treasure?  Find that out and that’s who or what you worship.

Daily Prayer:
Father, reveal my treasure to me today.  If it is not You, please open up my eyes to see You for who You really are, so that I may treasure You in order to worship You.  I don’t want to go through the motions of worship.  I want to worship in spirit and in truth.  Reveal Your truth to me today and may I worship You with every fiber of my being, spirit, soul, and body.

Daily Challenge:
Get your check book or bank statement out and look at where you spend most of your disposable income.  And then ask yourself what do you treasure.  Most people put their money into what they treasure.
